One of the things I feel the Warlock Mage lacks in PVP is real burst damage. Most of the time we rely heavily on our opportunity proc to cast our instant void bolt. Sometimes I find myself kiting an enemy constantly reapplying my DOTS hoping for an opportunity proc that never comes. For the past few weeks I have been experimenting with a few rotations to handle this situation.
Note: If I am at or near full charge, I will lead with Defile.
By now, we should all be familiar with how hard our spells hit for. Watch how slow or fast the enemy’s health is dropping and try to gauge how much burst you would actually need to finish off the enemy. Depending on the situation, I have come up with 2 different finishing rotations assuming no opportunity procs.
First of all make sure you have all your DOTS applied.
Vs. Cleric or Mage
This works well when detaunted or they cast a purgeable damage reduction ability. Of course vs a geared cleric or chloromancer, it is going to take multiple rotations. Remember, save your CC until you think you can kill them with your finishers.
If they interrupt your Void Bolt, remember Double Tap will proc allowing you to cast your next Void Bolt instantly. Remember, you only want 1 tick of Devouring Shadows unless you feel the 2nd tick will possibly kill them. And if all else fails, just cast Mass Fear as they will have no immunities, rinse and repeat.
If you feel their health is low enough, skip the first spell in each rotation.
