I have been playing Star Wars, The Old Republic SWTOR since release and after 2 dozen or so respecs post level 50, I have finally found a build I am completely happy with. As many of you know, I like to play a highly mobile mage utilizing techniques such as kiting, baiting, positioning and overall awareness. It was difficult to find the right balance based on my gear for all 3 Warzones currently implemented. I also had to retest several earlier builds as I was acquiring Champion Force-Master Armor which alters a Sorceror’s ability tremendously.
- No Force Issues
- Highly Mobile
- Procs - Wrath, Lightning Barrage and Lightning Storm
- Excellent AOE - Force Storm, Death Field and Instant Chain Lightning (Proc from Wrath)
- Excellent Single Target From Range - Shock and Lightning Strike (Extra 5 Meters from 4 Piece PVP Armor Bonus and Lightning Spire)
- Superb Crowd Control – Instant Whirlwind (Suppresion), Backlash, Overload
Do you think Lightning Strike is worth it? I’ve debated on using it in a build but rarely find my self needing the extra range. Though there are times when the ability to damage targets outside their range and then CC them as soon as they are within range could be handy.
On another note I found a fun easy way for skilling up expertise while leveling or new to 50. I do a lot of BZs so I’ always have commendations to spare so what I started doing is buying the best pvp weapon available at each given level, extracting the mod which contains expertise and using it on my other armor pices. Pre 50 this can give you a nice edge of most people which don’t do this and post 50 it narrows the gear gap a little faster.
Yes, I do find the extra range extremely useful, especially in warzones. What did you have in mind instead of it?

I’m going to try a slight variation on your build. Dropping lightning spire and backlash for Exsanguinate and forked lightining. Reason is being that backlash is a unpredictable cc that can build resolve on targets when you don’t want to and the now extended low force cost dot ensure you keep procing lightning effusion.
Forked lighting just to eek out a bit more dps but for the 10% chance of a extra 30% strike may not be worth it for sacrificing the range from spire.
