Rift 1.5 Dissb 10th Narrative PVP Video, 48 Warlock / 0 Archon / 18 Archmage

Released 10th Narrative PVP Video, New 1.5 Build 48 Warlock / 0 Archon / 18 Archmage

Now that I have had a week playing with this spec, I have decided to release a video demonstrating the Power and Durability of my new Mage.  I couldn’t have asked for anything more.

Topics covered:  New 1.5 Build, Hastened Withdrawal, Searing Vitality, Pillaging Stone and Nenvin’s Lament.

    Pretty ridic.

This is a perfect example of the power the Rift soul system has. It allows players to adjust to the whims of the devs and roll with the punches- just takes some research, planning, and practice.

Couldn’t agree with you more…was tempted to tell all the mages complaining about the incoming nerf to Devouring Shadows to simply move on and quit complaining. Been saying for a long time, Devouring Shadows is OP.

  2. Chapulin says:

Why is or was devouring shadows OP?

  3. dissb says:

Well the main reason it is getting nerfed is because people were abusing “double tap” casting. Basically, chain casting it in conjunction with Empowered Darkness.

Other reasons that made it OP, no Cooldown and instant burst.

    Dissb,

First of all great website. I follow many of your recommendations. Instead of stacking Endurance I stack Int so I tend to die a lot more often but *when* I am up I like to pack a punch :)

I recently moved my Defiant mage to Sunrest and I have seen you in a few WF’s and I can state from direct experience that you are very hard to kill!

I also have a question about your 48/18/0 build. Why not just take the 3 points from Overload and put them into the lock tree to get ED? I don’t know what the math is but it seems ED would be more dps than Overload. And I guess it would depend on how much spell crit one stacks and how much tolerance you have for managing the ED cooldown. Maybe Defile and ED consuming charge at the same time is not an efficient use of charge?

I have been experimenting with a 51/15/0 build with hastened withdrawal and 0 archon and it seems to work decently. I love hastened withdrawel!

Also I used to run chloro-lock quite a bit, but it seems pretty awkward against a a rogue-heavy comp.
Have you heard of what tricks the pro chloro-locks are using to circumvent the rogue healing debuffs?

    thanks

    Windam,

To each their own, if ya like stacking INT over Endurance and don’t mind dying than thats what you should do. My blog is not about “my way is the best way”, its just what works for me and everyone should find what makes them happy.

As far as not going 51 Warlock, I just don’t have much difficulty killing a majority of the people I face. I would rather use tactics opposed to casting 3 spells to kill someone. There are a few issues I have with ED too, very situational and managing charge becomes a pain sometimes.

As for Rogues, I have difficulty with just a select few. Currently, I think most Rogues are still experimenting with several builds so I will refrain from answering that question for now. I do not play chloromancer at all, so I can’t really help you there.

Thanks again for taking the time to write, and I look forward to seeing you on the battlefield. Now, I get to pick you outta the crowd assuming you use the same name.

      Dissb,

Yes my mage is the same name I used to post here. Thanks for answering my questions.
I am still confused about which stat – INT, endurance, valor or spell crit that best matches my play style.

I was reading on bluedots that using defile and ED at the same time will consume charge rapidly so it is not a good idea to have them eating charge at the same time.

I will see how things work with 51 lock, it might work well for me since I can dot targets up and be mobile and then sometimes go into void spam, ED, devouring shadows mode when the situation calls for it.

      thanks!

dissb i was wondering how are you doing with RS\ NB rouges they are op with mages mainly because we dont have enought purges to get rid of there buffs iam not rank 8 yet iam rank 7 but they give me a lot of trouble also marksman oh and whats your hp and valor thanks

  8. Mark says:

Hey dissb would you recommend this build for somebody who only has rank 3 rank 4 gear? or should they wait tell around rank 7 / 8 ? Great vids and writeup!! Oh do you use any kind of macros with the new build if so what are they if you don’t mind sharing?

    • dissb says:

I am hearing from different sources that this build doesn’t really pack the punch of some of my videos. However, I am a firm believer in continuously playing this build since I believe it has a steep learning curve. My 44/7/15 Build is probably a good place to start instead and when you get really comfortable and start becoming known by the enemy that may be a good time to switch.

I do not use any spell macros as I feel it takes the fun away from the game, and it would be really tough because certain spells you want to cast at certain times and it all depends on CD’s. This is experience and knowledge is gained from experience playing the class over and over. I hope that helps.
