Released Rift 1.5 Dissb 11th Narrative PVP Video wearing Prestige 1 and 2 gear.
In an attempt to sympathize with the lower prestige players having difficulty playing their mage, I decided to see first hand how things were. I purchased all Prestige 1 and 2 gear and ran my basic 44 Warlock / 7 Necromancer / 15 Archmage. Equipping only easily attainable endurance runes, Blood Thirsty and Mighty Enduring Vial.
This video depicts the importance of mastering basic techniques that will build a solid foundation to help improve your future PVP experience.
This is probably your best video to date. Good pointers for the new mages that might be feeling discouraged.
Thanks Ivas, I really want to reach out to the players that are having difficulty with their mages. Which seems like everyone who is actually following me.
Great video Dissb
The only problem is that at R1-2 most of those Archmage talents are not available. I’m still waiting to turn R4 to get Hastened Withdrawal ;P
That’s the main reason I’m focusing on playing support roles, such as dominator or chlorodom or chlorolock instead of a more mobile warlock dps build at the moment.
But aside from that, very helpful commentary for which I am deeply grateful
Bah – never mind that last comment. It turns out I was being silly. I had the wrong spec in mind (apparently the one in the video didn’t have Hastened Withdrawal but had Overload instead). Sorry about that.
Not a problem, I understand I had Overload which does require Prestige 4, but it didnt really affect my character especially with that low spell crit (22%)
Great video and extremely informative. Been using a modified dissb spec since rank 1 and learning the spec even though going up against higher players.
Almost to rank 8 so have gone through the grind and “impossible” odds so to speak.
The instructional nature of your commentry is spot on.
Like you, been playing MMO’s since beta Asherons Call and DAoC. The techniques you portray make the difference between an average player and an exceptional one.
One more thing, knowing what to do at the right time is only half the battle. Actually having the discipline to execute the moves, positioning, awareness etc, is really the part that sets folks like you from the masses when it comes to defeating other players…
Keep them coming… Thanks dissb.
Thanks Shako,
Your last paragraph is spot on! Knowing what to do and actually implementing it takes time and practice. It only gets easier with gear which at that time you can start learning other techniques such as extending and baiting. Building a solid foundation couple with Overall Awareness is the key!
Just wanted to let you know i appreciate what you are doing for all of us and you are doing a great job. I feel like you aren’t getting the recognition you deserve but keep it up because i really love your videos and your blog as well it is all very helpful and entertaining, thanks man
Thank you so much Ezkaton,
Over the past couple weeks, I have been getting a tremendous amount of positive feedback via this blog, forums and in game. I didnt realize how many people I actually helped until I started making videos. Once again, I thank you for the continued support and positive feedback!
Hey Dissb!
That warrior that got on your case was a guildie of mine! I let him know how bad he is. Hehe
Which warrior was this? There are alot of warriors that apparently have a personal vendetta of some sort.
Zaiana
Really appreciate this one, Dissb (I’m half-way into rank 2). Please keep up the good work!
Thank you Ohmega,
I am getting close to another 100,000 favor to spend, so hopefully I can get the Prestige 3/4 gear soon. Wonder how much it’s going to cost?
Good information for while your still leveling also! Shelved my warriors for now and rerolled a mage (Warlock/Chloro for some self heals) last weekend. Spent all Sunday afternoon in wf”s. Made Level 15! Having fun in Rift again.
Awesome to hear Mary, just don’t get discouraged once you hit 50.
Very good vid Dissb !
Thank you Seghona, currently working on my Prestige 3/4 videos atm, so they should be up either today or tomorrow.
Fire, thanks a bunch for the community contribution. I wonder about Warding Pots though, do you ever use them?
Also, I’m close to cracking level 50. I’ve about 40k favor stock-piled, is there an order of importance for Prestige gear, or essences?
Thanks a bunch, have fun!
I do not use warding pots. Did you have a particular find or idea to share?
Its funny how often people ask me regarding gear progression. Personally, I think it is all very marginal. With that said, I think you should focus on getting your valor/endurance up, so whatever grants those increases is what I would shoot for.
Question as to the build….why 7 in the necromancer? Is it purely for Necrosis and the 5% buff to death damage? Do you use anything from the Necro spec other than Necrosis?
Also, what do you use your charge on? Mortality? Defile?
I’ve been playing a Chloro/Lock/AM build with approx 13 in AM – with 20 in Chloro for the instant bloom as well as flourish. I like the “raised in nature” 21% of int buff to endurance as well as the “oh crap” heals. I also like the entropic veil charge user. What are your feelings on that vs the build that you use?
Thanks for the videos – I enjoy your perspective.
